To our dear Community,

As you know, the world is currently experiencing an era of change and transition like we have never seen before within our lifetimes, due to the Coronavirus. We are being affected in every single aspect of life, whether that be economical, ecological, political, historical, and emotional. Now more than ever, we have to work together as a community to care for each other.

For this reason the Events by David Rosa team, alongside with Pedro Biaggi and Ary Mondragon, has put together the following list of resources, tips, activities [and more] that can be useful for all of us, as we attempt to get through this pandemic.

From virtual tours to online Spanish lessons, you will be able to find all kinds of things to do at home.

Please share this information with EVERYONE you know, and if you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.

Most importantly, make sure to tune in via radio to AUTENTICA 950AM and 94.3FM for additional information and updates! If you do not have access to a radio, make sure to download the free “TuneIn” App to start listening daily from 3PM - 5PM.

South So Queer

Lighthouse Yoga Center

Thursday, December 3rd, 2020

4:00 PM- 5:00 PM EST

About the event: Tune in for a LIVE #ArtsAcrossAmerica performance!

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts joins forces with South Arts and the North Carolina Folk Festival to present 𝑺𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉 𝑺𝒐 𝑸𝒖𝒆𝒆𝒓.

What do we think of when we hear the phrase "southern" or "queer" as it refers to music? What comes to mind when we classify art in genre? The correlation between identity politics and musical genre (read: musical identity politics) is undeniable. Both rely on conversation, innovation, and envelope-pushing and are constantly evolving. Both are intersectional. Both are aware of and even dependent on the constant movement of artists and culture. In this hour, we explore the art of three queer artists (Stormie Daie, Loamlands, and Shirlette Ammons) from the South - the intersections, overlaps, and differences.

Presented as part of Arts Across America—a live performance series presented Mondays through Fridays to uplift & showcase artists from across the country. Learn more at http://kennedy-center.org/artsacrossamerica/

Is there a cure for racism?

BY Meaningful Conversations Washington, DC

Friday, October 9th, 2020

5:00 PM- 5:30 PM EST

About the event: EVENT WILL BE HELD AS VIDEO CALL ONLINE

Is racism actually a moral and even spiritual disease that will require more in addition to just changing laws and reforming institutions? Does the cure to finally eradicate it also demand profound changes in how we think and see each other, ultimately requiring a transformation of hearts?

Almost no aspect of our society is untouched by racism. Laws have been changed and some progress has been made, but how far can those solutions take us on their own? After slavery came Jim Crow. After Jim Crow came mass incarceration and institutional racism. Attempts at remedies through Reconstruction and the Civil Rights Act were not enough – the disease simply found new ways to thrive, mutating its form to infect our education, judicial, health, economic and other institutions and systems in ways – overt & covert – that continue to persist today. So what else is called for? Is a spiritual remedy also needed to help heal what is at its core a moral and spiritual disease? Humanity is not a collection of laws or social regulations. Rather, we are defined by our common nobility as spiritual beings. While finding strength in our “unity in diversity”, might recognition of our essential oneness help bring about the transformation of human hearts that no change in law could ever achieve on its own?

Come join a different kind of conversation – one that welcomes every perspective in a search for the truths that unite us all – as we discuss the spiritual perspective offered by the Bahá’i Teachings on the elimination of racism. Please join us for a lively discussion as we explore how centering our beliefs and actions on the oneness of humanity can lead to a restructuring of society that could finally cure the disease.

“We must lay aside all prejudice—whether it be religious, racial, political or patriotic; we must become the cause of the unification of the human race.” – Bahá’i Teachings
